The Works of Phil Blank
Phil Blank is an artist, musician, and librarian. His work has been featured in art galleries local to the Chapel Hill, N.C., area, and in the Carrboro Citizen newspaper. Blank also plays accordion, tenor banjo, and tsimbl in the klezmer music group Gmish. The following images are journal/sketchbook content spanning from 2014 to 2020. These journals contain personal reflections and portraits of people, places, and events, with particular attention to domestic life and southern food, landscapes, and music, including blues and klezmer musicians. They depict Chapel Hill, N.C., and Carrboro, N.C., as well as Asheville, N.C., Natchez, Miss., Longport, N.J., Paris, France, and Turin, Italy, among other locations. Blank now lives in Philadelphia, PA with his family.
